Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille fired two times late to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
