From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can anticipate learning which adventurers will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
